Official descriptions

Weebl asked me to remix his newest song for the band Savlonic and I just couldn't turn this down. Hope you like this version.

The Driver is a remix I made for Weebl’s virtual real band Savlonic. It was kind of a rush job since I didn’t have much time when Jonti asked me to do it. So over the course of a weekend I cranked out this version, which I think completely alters his original song, haha.

Lyrics

I stole your keys 'cos you stole my heart
It seems like a fair trade to me
Now I will drive around in your car
It helps me to feel free

I drive over bridges and rivers
Being this far from you gives me shivers
I want to get away
But the flash on the fuel tank says I'm likely to stay

I awake you're not there I get to wondering
Where have you got to while I was a-slumbering
Look around you're not there and all my keys are gone
Why would you take them when you know that it is wrong?

Some think that this must be Freudian
Leaving my wallet behind
There was the time that I left the bath running
And flooded the room down the stairs
This is just one of the many examples
I use to prove to myself I really don't care

I awake you're not there I get to wondering
Where have you got to while I was a slumbering
Look around you're not there and all my keys are gone
Why would you take them when you know that it is wrong?

But then I see your wallet next to your heart next to mine

Trivia

  • Weebl, the creator of Savlonic, also created the song "Lemons", which was previously remixed by C418 as Lemons (C418's "I want this to be a complete song" mix).
  • Including both the single and the instrumental version of the track, this is only the second shortest C418 album. The shortest official release is 0x10c, although YIFF DAD is actually shorter.
  • The music video for the original version of The Driver was adapted and released officially on C418's YouTube channel, joining Minecraft - Volume Alpha as the only official YouTube releases. Although this the only time C418 has released an official music video, he has acknowledged the fanmade video for Unreasonable.
  • Oddly, there are two lines present in the third verse of the original (But girl you know I'm forgetful/Things often slip out of my mind) that are absent from the remix, causing the fourth verse not to make much sense.
  • Featured by /u/Injustpotato as /r/C418's fifth Song of the Week.

People wanted the instrumentals of it. I personally am not really satisfied of it without the lyrics. It was quickly done and I could have fixed so much, but as always I just dragged this down to the last second. But here you are.
Since this doesn't include Weebls lyrics, it's free. But of course you can chip a few quids in if you like to <3

A version of the track without lyrics was added to Bandcamp later, making the single into a small EP.
